This USMNT Is Different - Enjoy It While You Can

Before tonight’s win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, the USMNT hadn’t beaten a European team in 12 consecutive matches.

The last European team the US men’s team had beaten? Bosnia and Herzegovina in a friendly back in December of 2021.

The US has only lost once this 2026 World Cup, and it was on a night where they rested all but two of the starters for a meaningless group stage match.

In every other match the team has looked calm, under control, and explosive - all lead by Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Gone are the days of players like Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Tyler Adams being young and inexperienced on the pitch.

These US players have now played many years of tough European competition, playing the best of the best.

Gone is the play style of having to rely on absolutely amazing goal keeping, counter attacking, and eking out 1-0 wins or boring draws.

This USMNT can score - and in bunches. This US team in the first game of the World Cup beat Paraguay 4-1. That same Paraguay team just eliminated Germany.

I’m not saying this US team can win it all - France and Argentina look like juggernauts just like they did in the 2022 World Cup.

I will say though, many of the usual favorites to win the tournament such as Spain, Brazil, and England have all shown specific flaws during this World Cup.

This USMNT is a team full of talented players in their primes who are playing a World Cup on home soil for the first time since 1994.

This could genuinely be the best USMNT we have ever seen. It is time to seize the moment.
