The Quinn era needs to end

I’m a Falcons fan, born and raised. But if I‘m being honest with myself, the Falcons have stunk since blowing a 28-3 lead to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Since that game the Falcons have had a 24-26 record, not including the loss they took to the Bears today.

The Falcons did make it back to the playoffs in 2017, but the Saints have ruled the division, winning it three straight years.

Not only are the Saints Super Bowl contenders, but the Buccaneers added the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady. They’ll be contending for the playoffs this year too.

So where does that leave the Falcons? At 0-3 to start the season, looking eerily similar to the team that started 1-7 last year.

The Falcons had a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter against the Cowboys last week and blew it.

How bad was it? The Falcons were the first team ever to lose a game when they had scored 39+ points and 0 turnovers. Teams in that situation were 440-0 before that point.

So how did the Falcons follow it up? By blowing another double digit 4th quarter lead to the Chicago Bears today.

I know this isn’t all Dan Quinn’s fault, but this isn’t just a random incident. It’s becoming a pattern.

And the fact that Quinn is a defensive minded coach, (he was the DC for the Seahawks before coming to Atlanta) and our defense is one of the worst in the league? Laughable.

Quinn should have been fired after we started 1-7 last season. It doesn’t matter we went 6-2 the rest of the way. It was all meaningless by then.

Matt Ryan is 35. Julio Jones is 31. They don’t have too many prime years left. This is not the time to waste a season to see if Quinn is still the guy. He isn’t. It’s time to move on before it’s time for a complete rebuild. If it isn’t time for that already.
