My Dream F1 Silly Season

With the F1 season now at the midway point, it looks as if McLaren is running away with both championships this year.
Thankfully, there always seems to be rumors and drama off track that keeps things exciting when the on track results feel predictable.
Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal since 2005, was fired this past Wednesday after 21 years with the team and 14 championships.
Max Verstappen, superstar driver of Red Bull and winner of the last four driver’s championships, could also be on his way out.
If I could choose how this F1 drama would play out, this is how I would love for it to go:
First, I would love for Christian Horner to take over as team principal for Ferrari. His resume speaks for itself, he knows how to win championships.
Fred Vasseur has not done a bad job as team principal at Ferrari, but he also hasn’t done a great job since joining the team.
Ferrari has too much pride and pedigree to have not won a single championship since 2008. Vasseur has preached patience - but Ferrari breeds urgency.
Secondly, I would like to see Max Verstappen move to Mercedes. This could start a chain reaction of drivers moving to different teams.
I believe if Verstappen went to Mercedes, George Russell would be the driver that would be kicked out of Mercedes.
Russell and Verstappen have butted heads off and on track, so I highly doubt that Mercedes would want them on the same team together.
Another reason this scenario is exciting is because Red Bull may be one of the only teams Russell would have the option to go to.
Cadillac is a new team that will be joining the grid next year. Russell could be an enticing option for them as well.
My last scenario I wouldn’t mind seeing is Mick Schumacher to Cadillac. Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas look like the front runners but they’re retreads.
Schumacher struggled with a bad Haas car several years ago and now is with the Alpine endurance racing team.
With the newest team on the grid, why not get a young driver that can grow and learn as the team does as well?
All of these moves are all very much just speculation, but with the new rule set coming in 2026, everything could be turned upside down this time next year.
