Desmond Ridder had two chances for a late Hail Mary win against his former team, but the Falcons pulled out an ugly win last night in Vegas.
For a team that blocked two punts, got an interception, a fumble, and a safety you would think that Falcons would’ve had a blowout win.
Instead, they almost let the 2 win Raiders come back and beat them with a quarterback the Falcons cut after last season.
Kirk Cousins finally threw a touchdown for the first time in five games, but last night showed how little the coaching staff trust him at this point.
After going up 7-0 the team seemed content with running the ball as much as possible to take the ball out of Cousins hands.
Cousins didn’t throw on first down in the entire first half. With his first throw on first down in the second half he immediately threw an interception.
The Falcons did not pay Kirk Cousins $180 million to only throw the ball 17 times in a prime time game but that’s what we saw last night.
To make matters worse, the Bucs have caught fire. They scored 30 unanswered points against a good defense in the Chargers on Sunday.
The Falcons need the Bucs to lose at least one more time the rest of the way, but last nights’ win will bring no confidence to anyone in Atlanta.
The team is going to land back in Georgia with a lot more questions than answers as they head into the final stretch of the season.
