There were two things about this game you heard all week: UGA’s 33 game home win streak and their 1-6 record against Alabama in the Kirby Smart era.
Crucially, all of Georgia’s losses against Alabama had either been in Tuscaloosa or been at a neutral site. It felt like we finally had them.
The atmosphere tonight in Athens was absolutely electric. The lights were bright, and the fans were loud and proud.
This made no difference to the Georgia players. Just like they had against Tennessee, Georgia came out slow and sluggish.
Ty Simpson had all day in the pocket and was able to pick apart the Georgia secondary. 3rd down for Alabama was absolutely automatic.
The first half for Georgia felt like it couldn’t have gone worse and yet Georgia was only down by ten points going into half.
If I told you that Alabama didn’t score a point in the second half, how much would you have bet that Georgia won the game? A lot right?
Alabama didn’t score a single point in the last two quarters and Georgia did absolutely nothing to capitalize on it.
Freshman wide receiver Talyn Taylor dropped a wide open pass that should have been at bare minimum a first down to get into the red zone.
Down three points, Georgia decided on fourth down to go for it instead of kicking a field goal and tying the game.
Alabama tried to hand us the win over and over and over. Georgia just refused to win this game. Georgia loves losing to Alabama.
What else can be said? This loss is going to hurt for a while. Even with Nick Saban gone, Georgia can’t slay the beast.
