Georgia Blows The Game in Tuscaloosa

Everyone from Joel Klatt to Mrs. Terry picked Alabama to win last night’s game between Georgia and Alabama.

I absolutely loved that everyone was doubting Georgia. It was the perfect opportunity for Georgia to go out there and prove everyone wrong.

Instead, Georgia went out there on Saturday night and embarrassed themselves on prime time television.

I genuinely don’t care that the final score was 41-34. The score does little to show how poorly Georgia played - especially in the first half.

Alabama lead 30-7 at half, and this was largely due to Carson Beck’s poor play. He threw two horrible interceptions and almost threw another.

Don’t get me wrong, the defense played horribly too. Alabama receivers were wide open and Georgia missed an ungodly amount of tackles.

Even after playing him in the SEC championship last year, Georgia still could not figure out how to contain Milroe.

Georgia made adjustments in the second half, and did outscore Alabama 27-11 to their credit. Georgia came back and even had the lead - for 13 seconds.

They let Alabama’s star 17 year old wide receiver make them look stupid on the way to a go ahead 75 yard touchdown.

Georgia then had a chance to go down the field and get a game-tying touchdown. They were driving with plenty of clock left.

On Alabama’s 20 yard line, with 43 seconds and 3 timeouts left, Beck made an ill-advised throw in the end zone that got intercepted and ended the game.

It doesn’t matter that Beck threw for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns. His turnovers are the difference of the game.

Alabama won the game, but Georgia beat themselves. What’s concerning, is this game wasn’t even Georgia’s hardest road game left to play.

Georgia still has to go to Austin to play Texas and Oxford to play Ole Miss. This schedule does them no favors.

Georgia has gotten off to a slow start in every game this season. It didn’t matter in early games against Clemson and Tennessee Tech.

Georgia played poorly against Kentucky two weeks ago and when they started slow last night, Alabama punched them in the mouth.

Georgia better find answers, because if they play anything like they did last night they may be looking at missing the playoff for the second year running.
