It’s not often that an Atlanta Falcons game is comfortable enough that I can begin writing a game summary while the game is still going.
The Commanders were without star quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin today and the Falcons rightfully took advantage.
Michael Penix threw a career high 313 yards, had two passing touchdowns and only one interception in today’s game.
Bijan Robinson was a star just as usual. He had 181 all purpose yards and a touchdown. Allgeier even got involved with 51 yards and a touchdown.
Drake London had over 100 yards and a touchdown while Kyle Pitts got his first touchdown of the season as well.
The defense is a bit of a concern, giving up 27 points to a backup quarterback, but this side of the ball should be strengthened once AJ Terrell comes back.
Even with the win, the offensive play calling still feels predictable and stagnant at times. The offense is extremely reliant on Bijan.
Winning this game and getting back to .500 on the season is certainly a positive, but this team still has a lot left to prove.
The Falcons have a bye week next week before playing two prime time games against the Bills and 49ers respectively.
This week was just a teaser. We’re going to find out what this team is truly made of here soon.
