The NBA Finals begin tonight between the Toronto Raptors and The Golden State Warriors. I don’t think anyone is too surprised that The Warriors made it back, but it will be interesting to see them face a team other than The Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Toronto Raptors, led by Kawhi Leonard, are coming into the series on a hot streak, having won their last four games.
The Warriors are on a five game win streak of their own, and will be more than well rested coming into tonight’s game 1.
This will be an captivating matchup. Demarcus Cousins will be playing for the first time since the conference semi-finals and Kevin Durant won’t play until at least game 3. This will be to Toronto’s benefit.
Kawhi Leonard looked great during the Eastern Conference Finals. He’s going to have to be even better in this series if Toronto is to have any chance of winning.
My Prediction: Warriors in 5
I hate to write off the Raptors before the series even starts, but The Warriors are just that good. They are an all-time great team, with or without Kevin Durant.
Also, during Toronto’s series against the Bucks in the ECFs, the players behind Kawhi were just too streaky and inconsistent. That is okay against an inexperienced playoff team like The Bucks. The Raptors will get beaten handily if their role players don’t play well to support Kawhi Leonard.
Who knows, if The Raptors get strong performances from players like Gasol, Lowry, and Siakam, they could make this a series.
Anything can happen in a 7 game series. This is where stars are born and legends are made.
